This Aragonese palace was built within the framework of the modern city in the early 16th century. Its main facade shows the noble floor, which is crowned by the typical Aragonese gallery and huge eaves. This style continues throughout the 18th century.
This century is considered to be the Golden Century for Alcañiz. The great number of noble mansions built in this period constitue a good illustration of this golden age.
Most of these buildings are found in the district Los Almudines and in the street Santa Pau. Currently, the Ardid Palace has been completely restored and today the library and the Municipal archives are located there.
